Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Coordination Committee Monday warned government and the legislators against any attempt to introduce or pass any order or a piece of legislation to extend the 101st amendment with regard to Goods and Service Tax (GST) Act to the State in its original form.
All business establishments are appealed to hoist black flags on their places of business from Tuesday. We also appeal the business fraternity to participate in a Sit-in near Legislative Assembly in order to mount pressure on the legislators to support our views and thoughts on GST, the KCC said and asked business fraternity to follow the program of KCC as and when announced.
Pertinently, the Valley-based traders and opposition parties including National Conference are at the forefront of opposing the GST which aims at economic integration of the states with union of India.
The KCC said that the implementation of GST regime in Jammu and Kashmir will reduce the power and the flexibility of the State Government to pursue its own fiscal policy as well as public expenditure policy which is aligned to its own requirements.
