PoonchTwo army solders were killed and another received injuries after Pakistani troops carried out an attack 600 meters inside the Indian territory in Poonch sector of Jammu region on Thursday.
A defence official in a statement issued here said the Border Action Team (BAT), which generally comprises special forces of the Pakistan Army and some militants, carried out the attack at around 2 pm with the aid of cover fire by the Pakistani troops from their posts.
The official said that the soldiers who were manning the fence came under heavy attack by the armed intruders resulted into an encounter.
“One of the attacker was injured in the Indian retaliatory action and his body was taken back under the cover of heavy firing by the Pakistani troops from their posts across the LoC, the official said.
In the incident two soldiers were killed and another sustained injuries, he said.
He identified the deceased soldiers as Naik Jadhav Sandip and Sepoy Mane Savan. The injured was airlifted to army hospital Udhampur for specialized treatment.
