SRINAGAR: ICS Whites thumped ICS Oranges in the second semifinals by 53 runs to book a place in the finals of Islamia College of Science and Commerce Inter-group Cricket Tournament played at the college ground on Thursday.
It turned out to be a one-sided affair with Oranges skittled out for 117 chasing 171. They never looked like chasing the target as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Mehfooz and Owais were only substantial scorers for the Oranges making 22 and 18 respectively. Other failed to put up a show as Oranges suffered a huge defeat. For the winners, Danish bowled a economical spell giving away just four runs in as many overs coupled with a brace of wickets. Bilal took a three-for for Whites.
Earlier, Whites elected to bat first after winning the toss with Arhan showing some class on his way to 35. Junaid scored 28 as Whites posted a competitive total of 170 in the allotted 25 overs. Mehfooz, Adil and Zahid took two wickets each for Oranges.
Whites will face Yellows in the summit clash set to be played on May 20 at the same venue. The tournament is organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College.
