The Outlandish Folks

Some people are not meant to live conventionally. It is the wild folk I am talking about, people who are born with glitches in their brains. They don’t understand conventionality, they cannot obey the norms. Such people are not delinquents, they are merely romantics.

Seeming they are normal citizens of the society, they dress like others, eat and drink like others; they behave well in society and are generally looked upon as good people. But there is another side to their story. Behind the calm face, they hide a heart that is forever in tempest that may be thrown into the deepest ecstasy by a sheer gentle breeze. The thunder excites them and so does the rain. They like to stand alone in the middle of nowhere and dream. They give wings to every whim of their heart. The butterflies and bees and birds are their constant companions. It is these creatures who know all their secrets and hide them well, unlike humans.

Such people are highly impractical almost all the time. Highly practical people might have names for their conditions like excessive adrenaline or even hormonal imbalance but such people have another name for themselves; Romantics! Forever in love with nature! Things that give them joy are often seen as a waste of time by others. They can talk to the moon for hours together, get angry at the sun for being too hot, they can dance in the rain, ignoring all deadlines and they can survive on snowflakes. All this gives them no material gains yet, it is very important for their peace of mind. Their soul fits into nature and they cannot part with it. If isolated the soul will wither and become dormant and people whose only beauty is their soul shall be doomed forever it that happens. So they are helpless in this regard; they are programmed in this way. Their lives are not conventional and so their destinies are a little strange too. Had that not been so, they would have not been themselves in the first place. Because some people are not born to be normal, they might never be outstanding, but they are different and they can do nothing about it.

Life is not idealisticto them as they are to it. Life has the same standards for everyone; same pain and same sorrow. They face the same troubles and situations. In fact their attitude earns them extra trouble sometimes because they are often misunderstood by others. They cannot conform to the success rules either. The child inside them doesn’t let them do what others do to succeed. They often find themselves friendless, failing and falling. But that only makes them dive deeper into their rich inner lives. Some of them then abandon society completely and become Sufis and others merely learn to pretend better.Only death can make them stop being who they are.
