Srinagar: Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Engineers Association Saturday said that after the assurances given by the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq, that their demands will be fulfilled after the Model Code of Conduct will be over, they have called off the ongoing strike.
MGNREGA) Engineers Association Chairman Shahnawaz Hussain told CNS that during a meeting, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq assured them that their genuine demands will be fulfilled after the MCC will be over. He said that they have now called off the strike and has nothing to do with the faction that is still on strike.
We do believe that Minister will keep his promise. We felt that there is no reason for continuing the strike and thus we called it off, he added.
Pertinently, staff working under MGNREGA is on strike as they demand the redressal of their multiple issues. They demand regularization of their services, delegation of powers, basic salary with other allowances.
