Jammu: Independent MLA and former minister Pawan Gupta was silenced by ruling PDP MLA Javid Mustafa Mir over the remarks of Engineer Rasheed the Langate lawmaker – on demand of plebiscite for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
As MLA Pawan Gupta stood up and sought expunging of the plebiscite remark of Engineer Rasheed, the PDP MLA Javid Mustafa Mir stood up from his seat and told the speaker that he should not expunge the plebiscite remark of the MLA.
The demand for plebiscite is a valid demand, Mir told the house, and such comments inside the house cannot be expunged.
Mir told the speaker that plebiscite has been promised by first Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru, and as such, there is nothing unconstitutional if any member puts demand on plebiscite in the house. No one can stop anyone from raising this demand.
Mir was supported by other PDP members after which Pawan Gupta stopped arguing over the issue.
Even I said it number of times during Omar Abdullahs time in the house, he said.
He later walked out from the house, after a verbal brawl with Udhampur MLA.
