PDP Led Govt Working As Per ‘Doval Doctrine’: Omar

Jammu: Former chief minister and leader of the opposition in J&K Assembly, Omar Abdullah on Saturday slammed the PDP-BJP government saying that the policy they (government) are exercising on ground is “not that of the ‘Agenda-of-Alliance’ but ‘Doval doctrine’”.

Referring to the speeches made by incumbent National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, in Hyderabad on how to handle situation in Kashmir, Omar said, “had you handled the situation according to the agenda of alliance, the situation would have been entirely different, but you are working on Doval doctrine.”

Omar alleged that the government was “implementing the ‘Doval doctrine’ in letter and spirit”.

Addressing PDP-BJP government during his speech in the lowere house of J&K Legislature, the National Conference working president said that he will not raise questions on the alliance, however, “you have completed one third of your term while you have yet to show us a single achievement”.

“You have nothing to show,” he said, “tell us one thing for which people should appreciate you.”

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Omar raised questions asking, “Why has SIT suited you now when you earlier opposed the same.”

Decrying that the SIT has not reached any conclusion in Handwara case, Omar asked, “will people trust you now?”

“If you have so much trust in your inquiries, why was this trust lacking in my government when you opposed death of Haji Yousuf being investigated by SIT,” he asked while pointing towards CM Mehbooba Mufti.

“When you were against the police then, how can we trust you now, when around 100 people have been killed,” Omar said.

Terming the promises of rehabilitating and compensating flood victims as hollow, he said, “(late) Mufti Sahab said this alliance is to get funds from centre for the flood affected but they are yet to receive the same.”

Omar alleged that CM wanted to portray herself as a soft separatist and pro-militant, “but the plan has badly been exposed and the militants killed in 2016 are highest in the recent years”.

The former CM said that there has also been a surge in killings of forces this year.

He asked the ruling coalition partner BJP to answer as to why they are mum unlike past.

“Country is not protected by huge statements,” he said, “the slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan have been exposed.”

Asking the government to shun “double standards”, Omar said on one hand CM is talking of amnesty to local militants and on the other hand Burhan Wani’s Killers are awarded gallantry awards.

“You awarded killers of Burhan. Why were they awarded if he was ordinary militant as you have said earlier? Dual statements don’t work.”

While levelling serious allegations against the Chief Minister he said that “her relatives are running transfer industry in southern part of Kashmir”.

“Sajad and Sartaj are making every transfer in southern parts of Kashmir,” Omar said apparently referring to uncle and cousin of the Chief Minister.

He also stated that BDO, as per an MLA, was transferred 12 times in 18 months in Sopore.

“There have been 2100 premature transfers in two years that states two to three premature transfers are being done per day,” he said. “Even the top officials are not feeling safe for their positions.”
