SRINAGAR: In a bid to enhance electricity supply in the State, Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf and Power Development Department, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi said that all pending projects under Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) should complete within timeframe.
Minister chaired a high level review meeting with the officials of Power Development Department and JKSPDC here today.
Commissioner/Secretary, Power Development Department Dheeraj Gupta, Managing Director JKSPDC and other senior officers, Development Commissioner (Power) are present in this meeting.
The officials gave detailed presentation of pending works under centrally sponsored and state sector power projects and related issues.
The Minister was informed that 23 power projects under State Sector with 1220.96 MW capacity, 7 under central sector (operated by NHPC) with 2009 MW capacity and 4 under Independent Power Producers (IPP) arrangement with 42.5 MW capacity are under execution across the State.
Andrabi directed the engineers to make minimum use of time and resources to create a tangible impact in Power sector so that all pending works are complete in a time bound manner.
The Minister instructed the officers to speed up the works in different power projects so that JKSPDC fulfill the demand of electricity during winters.
The Minister was informed that 23 power projects under State Sector with 1220.96 Mw capacity are operational in the State. These include Iqbal produce (3.75 Mw), Sumoor (0.10 Mw), (Hunder 0.40 Mw), Bazgo (0.30 Mw), Karnah (2.00 Mw), Chenani-II (2.00 Mw), Ushp-II (105 Mw), Chenani-III (7.50 Mw), Sewa-III (9.00 Mw), Baderwah Unit I & II (1.00 Mw), Baderwah Unit III (0.50 Mw), Phalgam Unit I & II (3.00 Mw), Phalgam Unit III (1.50 Mw), Igo Mercellong (3.00 Mw), Marpachoo (0.75 Mw), Haftal (1.00 Mw), Baglihar-I (450 Mw), Baglihar-II (450 Mw), Sanjak (1.26 Mw), LJHP (105Mw), USHP-I (22.60Mw), Ganderbal (15Mw), Mohra (9Mw), Chenani-I (23.30 Mw) and Stakna produce (4Mw) electricity.
Under central sector (operated by NHPC), the Minister was told that seven power projects with 2009 Mw capacity are operational in Jammu & Kashmir. In these power projects Salal produces 690 Mw, Dulhasti 390 Mw, Uri-I 480 Mw, Sewa-II 120 Mw, Nimo Bazgo 45 Mw, Chutak 44 Mw and Uri-II produces 240 Mw power.
The officers further informed the Minister that Independent Power Producers (IPP) with 42.5 Mw capacity are operational across the State. In these Power projects Athwathoo produces 10 Mw, Brenwar 7.50 Mw, Rajna-ala-Dunadi 15 Mw and Drung (Tangmarg) produces 10 Mw power.
Andrabi also directed JKSPDC officers to constitute a committee which will monitor the progress of the work on different locations across the State on monthly basis.
