SRINAGAR:Hurriyat-G chairman Syed Ali Geelani Thursday said that All Parties Hurriyat Conference was, in principle, never against the talks as “we believe that even after deadly conflicts and destructive wars, things are settled through the dialogue only”.
“But,” Geelani said, “given the long and deceptive nature of the talks on Kashmir we have witnessed this exercise going on more than 150 times without yielding any results till date. The only reason being the unrealistic and arrogant attitude of India.”
The ailing Hurriyat-G chief said, “India has forcibly occupied this land in 1947 and since then it is trying by its all means and might to legitimate their illegal occupation. We are fighting for our basic right, for the last 7 decades and whenever the struggle gains momentum and threatens the very existence of Indian occupation here, they use these gimmicks to diffuse and fizzle the momentum away.”
Referring to mass arrests, the octogenarian Hurriyat-G chief said that all the (resistance) leadership is behind the bars, “whole Jammu and Kashmir is under the tight siege of curfew and the killing spree has no end and to create confusion and derail the current uprising, conspiracies of sending the multiple delegations has crept in as if we are in a big zoo and these people are coming in groups to see us and take our pictures”.
While reiterating his old and “realistic” point of view, the Hurriyat -G chairperson “categorically” said, “if India accepts the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir and starts demilitarization, setting a platform for the permanent and peaceful resolution of this age old conflict, we as the representatives of this oppressed nation will welcome any and every move forward in this regard.”
Geelani, however, said, “we can’t demonize the sanctity of this grave issue by participating in a photo-session or for a cup of tea and appealed others also not to indulge themselves into this futile exercise.”
Referring to the economic constrains of this issue, Geelani said that two nuclear countries have fought 3 wars and if this issue is not addressed in its real perspective, the nuclear collusion and demographic catastrophe is inevitable.
Commenting on the “expansionism and militaristic” mind set of India, Geelani said, “about 30% Indian populace is living below the poverty line. Those offering laptops and talking of moons and stars for us should concentrate and work for upliftment of the own downtrodden people as we don’t need any such help from them.”
Addressing the people in the power corridors of India, Geelani said “in case you really have a human heart which is devoid of any prejudice and hatred, you should allow us to decide our future and earn the name and fame in the human history, otherwise you continue to kill, threaten, molest, rape, harass, maim and destroy us we will bear it all and we believe that you will not only be tired but ashamed of your own deeds as well, but we will never succumb to your tyranny.”
Repeating the historical background of Jammu and Kashmir, Geelani said that this is neither an administrative issue nor a border dispute between two countries, but is the issue of survival for the fourth generation of Kashmiris with their “future, faith and culture at stake”.
“The continuous and endless sacrifices strengthen our resolve not to budge from our basic and principled stand,” he added.
Questioning the intellectuals and conscious people of India, Geelani said, “after 70 long years you still come here to know what we actually want? Decades of persistent struggle, lakhs of martyrs, countless orphans, thousands of rapes, deserted markets, locked educational institutions, blooded streets and death and destruction throughout Jammu and Kashmir, can’t this huge human and economic investment of a tiny population open your eyes, see and hear loud and clear message that we only and only want to end the forced Indian military occupation here and demand for our basic right, Right to Self Determination which has been promised by none other than your own tallest leadership with whole world standing witness to it. Our wounded valley cries for Azadi and it is manifested and can be looked into anybody’s eyes, confirmed and authenticated by the present upsurge, which need no words to narrate it as the words may fall short of the depth of our wounds inflicted in this struggle by your armed forces.”
Meanwhile, Geelani condemned the police raid on the Jama’at-e-Islami J&K Headquarters at Batamaloo and arrest of its functionaries.
He termed it as “undemocratic, uncivilized, and immoral action by the local administration at the behest of Delhi”.
