Jammu- In a dramatic turn of events in the Legislative Assembly, National Conference (NC) MLA Bashir Ahmad Veeri openly defied his party leadership on Thursday, condemning what he called the “dictatorship” of the party’s chief whip and his deputy.
Visibly frustrated after being denied a chance to speak, Veeri—who represents the Bijbehara Assembly segment—voiced his dissent in the House, drawing thunderous applause from the opposition.
His remarks did not sit well with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who summoned Veeri to his chamber. The two returned to the House after 7-8 minutes, though details of their conversation remained undisclosed.
