Srinagar: A policeman was on Saturday killed by suspected militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police statement here said that Selection Grade Constable, Khurshid Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Aziz, was killed when militants fired at him at Quil in Pulwama.
“The deceased was martyred in Quil area of Pulwama District when he was leaving his home for duties,” “SP Pulwama, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, said. “He was leaving for District Police Lines Pulwama when gunmen fired at him from closed range this early morning.”
Meanwhile, a wreath laying ceremony was held in District Police Lines Pulwama where floral tributes were paid to the deceased. The deceased policeman is survived by wife, 14 years old son and aged father.
