SRINAGAR:Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were Friday arrested when they tried to march towards Eidgah .
Hurriyat-G Chairman Syed Ali Shah was arrested by police and taken to Humhama Police Station when he took out a march towards Eidgah.
“Geelani sahab was arrested by police around 1:15 PM,” Hurriyat sources said.
Hurriyat-M Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was arrested outside his residences as he tried to march towards the Eidgah .
Sources said that as soon as Mirwaiz stepped out of his Nigeen residence, a large contingent of police whisked him away.
Earlier Police also arrested Hurriyat-M leader Molvi Masroor Abbas Ansari from his residence at Nawa Kadal before Friday prayers as he tried to march towards Eidgah .
Notably, the united resistance camp had asked people to march towards Eidgah in Old Srinagar and offer congregational prayers there. Authorities, however, sealed all the routes leading towards Eidgah and strict curfew was imposed.
