SRINAGAR:Commissioner-Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department, Mr. Hridesh Kumar today reviewed various developmental projects undertaken by the department including flagship programmes like AMRUT, SBM, Housing for All besides Master Plans of Srinagar and Jammu cities.
The meeting was informed that Rs. 150.00 crore have been proposed during current financial year for the improvement of lanes, construction of drains, installation of Street Lights, development of Bus Stands, construction of community halls, laying of sewer network and for conservation of beautification of Dal and Nageen Lakes in Srinagar city.
The meeting was also informed that under AMRUT projects worth Rs 382.00 crore have been approved for execution by the State Government. These include construction of Multi Level Parking at Sheikh Bagh and State Motor Garages, installation of intelligent Traffic Signal System, construction of drainage Network System in Srinagar & Anantnag town, extension of tulip Garden, upgradation of de-watering stations, development of green spaces in Srinagar & Anantnag, development of Idle Parking at Pantha Chowk, development of walkways, pathways, and cycle track etc.
Under the Swacch Bharat Mission, the meeting was told, an investment of approximately Rs. 50.00 crore has been earmarked for construction of 37,000 individual House Hold Toilets (IHHTs) & 90 Public Toilets at various places in the urban areas of the State. Similarly, for scientific management of Solid Waste, projects worth Rs 90.00 crore have been sanctioned for Srinagar City and projects for Anantnag, Kulgam, Handwara, Katra, Rajouri and Udhampur costing Rs.145.06 crore have been prepared for execution.
The meeting was informed that the State Government has approved “Housing for All” Action plan of 25 major cities/towns including Srinagar city where under 55000 beneficiaries would be provided assistance to the tune of Rs. 946 crore by way of incentives/interest subsidy for the construction of new houses or upgradation of existing houses.
All the officers were impressed upon to adopt pro-active approach for preparation of DPRs, participation by contractors in tendering process and engaging citizens in implementation of the works so that all the works are put to execution and completed within the present financial year and funds earmarked for the purposes are utilized in full in public interest.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Tehseen Mustafa, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Tufail Mattoo and other officers.
