2 killed in Kulgam firing incident

SRINAGAR: A policeman and a civilian were killed after suspected militants opened fire in a village in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Friday.

Two more civilians were injured, one of them critically, in the incident.

A local newspaper reported that gunmen opened fire at a policeman who was sitting on a shop-front in Chanchur village of the district.

SSP Kulgam has confirmed that two people have died in the firing incident. And identified the deceased cop as Constable Manzoor Ahmad and civilian Farooq Ahmad.

He also said that the injured persons have been shifted to District hospital Kulgam for treatment.
