Pulwama: Noted Islamic scholar and Qaid-e-Ahil-e-Sunnat Allama Muhammad Ashraf Andrabi passed away on Tuesday at his residence Zadoora Pulwama.
He was the founder and chief patron of Shah Hamdan Trust Pampore and Darul Uloom Gousia Hamdania Monghama Pulwama.
Maulana was born in 1926 and was educated in Lahore Pakistan and Deoband India.
Socio religious organizations and political parties expressed grief over his demise and prayed for the departed soul.
Besides, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, working president Omar Abdullah, General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar and others have condoled the demise of Islamic scholar.
In her condolence message, the Chief Minister said that the demise of a very distinguished and respected Islamic scholar is a great loss to the society. She said Maulana Ashraf Andrabi was a great religious luminary and a pious soul, who worked for peace, harmony and brotherhood apart from preaching religious and humanistic values.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu has also condoled the demise of Moulana Ashraf Andrabi and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
President Anjuman Ulmae Ahnaf Maulana Akhzar while expressing grief over the demise of the noted scholar said that he was a reputed Islamic Scholar who spent his whole life for sake of Islam and helping downtrodden.
