The activists of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar headed by Simranjit Singh Mann were barred from entering into Jammu and Kashmir near Lakhanpur.
Talking to CNS over phone, General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar Mohindar Pal Singh said that they were on way to Kashmir capital Srinagar to meet the families of martyred youth and separatist leaders to express solidarity with them.
We had started our journey from Amritsar but were stopped at Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir around midnight soon after we entered the state from Madhopur in neighbouring Punjab in couple of vehicles, Singh said.
He added that police threatened to detain them if they didnt leave the place. Quoting a police officer, Mohindar Pal Singh said that they acted on the instructions of District Magistrate. We highly condemn the action of the government, he said.
