The Committee approved the proposal for enhancement of the mandate of JAKEDA to implement small hydel projects upto 10MW in the first instance.

JAKEDA identifies and allots potential sites to the Independent Power Producers (IIPs) after inviting bids and evaluating them through a two stage competitive bidding process. Since the year 2013 as many as 24 project sites have been allotted to IIPs with a total capacity of 41.35MW.
