Srinagar : The Empowered Committee headed by Chief Secretary, B R Sharma, constituted to review, coordinate and fast track various pending matters of Power Development and Science & Technology departments, Monday discussed various proposals placed before it for consideration.
The Committee approved the proposal for enhancement of the mandate of JAKEDA to implement small hydel projects upto 10MW in the first instance.
Presently, Hydel projects upto only 2MW are being managed by JAKEDA, while projects with higher capacity are mandated to JKSPDC.
JAKEDA identifies and allots potential sites to the Independent Power Producers (IIPs) after inviting bids and evaluating them through a two stage competitive bidding process. Since the year 2013 as many as 24 project sites have been allotted to IIPs with a total capacity of 41.35MW.
Recently, 60 more sites with an aggregate capacity of 86.35MW have been advertised by JAKEDA and the allotment of these sites is under process.
To fast track obtaining of statutory clearances/ NOCs from various Government departments for the time bound commissioning of the allotted projects, the Empowered Committee approved constitution of an Advisory Committee under Financial Commissioner, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department to enable single window clearance for IPP/EPC projects tendered by JAKEDA.
The Empowered Committee also discussed the roadmap for exploitation of Solar Power potential in the State by the S&T Department.
