Srinagar: Welcoming the Pakistani government for sticking to its principled stand on Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said the conglomerate always welcomed initiation of parleys between the two countries, however, talks between the two would not be result-oriented without focusing on Kashmir resolution.
Terming the unresolved Kashmir as the main obstacle in the way of a pleasant atmosphere between the India and Pakistan, Mirwaiz said the efforts of the Pakistani government for resolving Kashmir would bear fruit only if India responds positively to it and thereby clears decks for starting a new era of peace and friendship between the two countries.
He said that no dialogue process between the two countries were not going to yield results if any headway is not made on the resolution of Kashmir issue. Neither India nor Pakistan could afford to put the issue on the backburner as that would create more distrust and acrimony between the two countries instead of bringing them closer.
Urging international community to play its role vis-à-vis Kashmir issue by making the political leaderships of both the countries to agree for a dialogue process over Kashmir, Mirwaiz said the prevailing political uncertainty in the entire subcontinent because of the pending Kashmir issue was affecting the peace and stability of the region and threatening the World peace.
Mirwaiz cautioned that keeping the Kashmir issue lingering could prove fatal for the entire region. It could bring the two nuclear powers in a confrontation mode.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz expressed satisfaction over the reports of improvement in the health condition of the ailing veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Geelani in New Delhi and prayed for his speedy recovery. (CNS)
