BARAMULLA : District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal today inaugurated a Horticulture nursery at Kunzer. Director ICAR, CITH, Srinagar, Dr. D. B. Singh, Senior Scientist, KVK Baramulla, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Senior Scientist, ICAR, CITH, Srinagar, D.C. Sharma and Tehsildar Kunzer were also present during the inaugural function. The DDC also planted various plants on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Krishi Vigyan Kender organized a vocational training programme for the farmers of the area, with DDC, Yasha Mudgal as the Chief Guest.
While speaking on the occasion the DDC stressed the need to encourage the farmers for shifting focus on growing temperate fruits and cultivation of high variety of fruits . She maintained that the training programmes are inevitable for the farmers to aware them about the latest know how and techniques .The DDC stressed that the nurseries will not only supply quality fruit plants to the farmers of the state, but can also be utilised to export plants to other states, thereby providing employment opportunities .
During the training programme, the farmers were provided information regarding the new technologies in horticulture sector. Soil testing, using high yielding varieties and growing specific type of fruits in accordance with the nature of the climate were also highlighted during the training programme. Practical training and plants were also provided to the farmers by the Kender.
