BUDGAM: Scores of hamlets in Central Kashmirs Budgam district including Pakharpora Friday observed complete shutdown on the first anniversary of five Jaish-e-Muhammad militants who were killed in a gunfight on 15, January last year.
These five militants had been killed in Gadru Forest area of Kellar in South Kashmirs Shopian district and had been identified as Muhammad Toyib of Multan Pakistan, Master Shakeel Ahmed Wani alias Ali son of Ghulma Muhammad resident of Pakharpora, Tahir Ahmed Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar of Aglar Kandi, Ishfaq Ahmed Daga son of Ghulam Muhammad Daga resident of Arwani Kulgam and Parvez Ahemd Shah son of Muhammad Ahsan Shah a resident of Bata Muran Pulwama.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that all the shops and business establishments remained shut in Pakharpora and transport was off the roads. Shutdown was also observed in other hamlets including Mohandpora, Aglar, Kadipora, Kheigam, Futlipora, Dalwan, Kanidajan, Nagabal, Wusanmarg and Chekpatru.
Groups of youth took out procession in different areas while hundreds of people visited the houses of slain militants families to express solidarity with them. (CNS)
