JAMMU: Secretary, Transport Mr. Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, reviewed the functioning of JKSRTC in a high level meeting here.
Managing Director, JKSRTC Mr. G. A. Sofi, Special Secretary, Transport, and other senior officers of the Corporation were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Secretary reviewed sector-wise performance of the Corporation. Issues including prolonged detention of fleet in workshops, co-ordination between different wings of the Corporation and sensitivity towards passenger comfort and market forces were also examined in the meeting. The Secretary also stressed on need for focussed attention on financial health of Corporation.
The Secretary directed MD, SRTC to prepare a list of vehicles showing the status of repair work on them, so that vehicles remaining in workshops for prolonged periods can be identified and accountability enforced.
The Secretary further asked MD, SRTC to ensure that immediate steps are taken to introduce e-management in the Corporation and added that funds have already been made available to Corporation for making it fully computerized.
The Secretary asked the management to redouble their efforts to strengthen the supportive public transport system and to focus areas where diminishing profitability is being reported. He said cost benefit analysis should be done and reasons for decrease in revenue identified. He stressed that negligence and leakage at any level shall be dealt with seriously.
The Secretary impressed on the GMs, DGMs & Managers to work with zeal, dedication and in complete synergy to achieve the basic objective of Corporation, which is to provide connectivity and support to far flung areas of the State and to ensure supply of essential commodities to areas not generally connected by private transport.
Earlier, MD, SRTC presented a brief on the performance of the organisation. The meeting was told that 4 units of luxury buses for cross LOC operations are being procured for which an amount of Rs 1.20 crore has already been released. Besides a proposal for 10 units of buses for city operation in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar has been submitted to Govt. for an amount of Rs. 7.60 crore.
