SRINAGAR: Paying glowing tributes to Sajad Ahmad Bhat, who was martyred in a gunfight with government forces late Monday evening, an Hurriyat (M) spokesman Tuesday said the selfless sacrifices of the Kashmiri people during the ongoing resistance movement constitute the most valuable asset of the struggle and international community should play its role for the resolution of Kashmir issue keeping in view the sacrifices and aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir.
Expressing sympathy with the family of the martyred youth, the spokesman said atrocities and oppression cannot keep any people from achieving their right of self-determination for long neither could a lasting peace in South Asia be achieved by keeping people of Kashmir out of any process aimed at the resolution of this issue.
He also condoled the demise of the mother of Shaheed Sajad Ahmad Kenu and paid glowing tributes to the entire family who had made great sacrifices for the cause of Kashmir.
Terming her a noble and kind woman who had shown courage and extraordinary willpower during the ongoing resistance movement, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant her soul peace.
Meanwhile, the spokesman has condemned the attack by extremist elements on Kashmiri doctor, Amar Khan and journalist Imran Shah in New Delhi, adding, Kashmiris weather students, tradesmen or travelers were being victimized in different outside Kashmir in states of India.
He said harassing and terrorizing Kashmiris outside Kashmir had been going on for quite some time now making the travel of Kashmiris outside Kashmir dangerous and life threatening.
Quoting reports that extremist elements in Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and different Indian states were threatening and harassing Kashmiris living, studying or conducting their businesses there, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman said the security of these Kashmiris is the responsibility of the Government of India and the respective state governments who should ensure the safety of all these Kashmiris.
Condemning the three-months detention of Peer Rehmatullah and his wife of north Kashmirs Kupwara region who were returning through the Nepal route from Azad Kashmir, the spokesman said they had not only been detained illegally but also not been provided medical aid or proper food by the Bihar Police as a result of which they had taken ill in jail.
He said the Kupwara police had sent a report about the case to Bihar Police but they are not ready to present it in the court resulting in unfortunate delay in their release. (KNS)
