Arrest of lawyers:
Srinagar: The lawyers at High Court staged a protest and suspended court work after police arrested one of their colleagues Advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi at Srinagar Airport.
Soon after the arrest of Reshi, High Court Bar Association called an emergency meeting and decided to abstain from court work till Friday in protest against the arrest and detention of Mohammad Shafi Reshi, Advocate, Shabir Ahmad Bukhari Advocate and also against the crackdown on the separatists and the arrest of more than 200 supporters, ahead of Narender Modis visit of Kashmir valley on November 7.
Mohammad Shafi Reshi Advocate alongwith Arshid Andrabi Advocate, the meeting said, had been deputed by the Bar Association to Delhi in connection with the case filed by some Hindu fanatics in the Supreme Court of India for scraping of Article 35-A of the Constitution of India. Mohammad Shafi Reshi and Arshid Andrabi after attending the proceedings of the case on Nov 3 were returning home with necessary documents of the case. When they reached Srinagar Airport in the morning flight, Mohammad Shafi Reshi was arrested and detained at police station Humhama.
Few days back, Shabir Ahmad Bukhari Advocate, while on his way from Lower court to High Court was reportedly arrested by Shaheed Gunj police and was thereafter shifted to police Station Kreeri Pattan.
