DFP calls siege heart wrenching episode in Kashmir history
SRINAGAR: Terming October 15 as the heart-wrenching episode in Kashmir history, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) led by Shabir Shah, Thursday, said the Indian and State rulers deliberately gave rise to such a tragedy whose pain could be felt even today.
In a press statement, Shah on the 23rd anniversary of the siege said the whole state reverberated with slogans demanding freedom from Indian occupation.
Under a well planned conspiracy, Indian occupational forces while trying to desecrate the sanctity of religious places started laying siege of Dargah Hazratbal and repeated the massacres in nook and corner of the valley, he said.
Paying tributes to those martyred on the occasion, the spokesperson said 65 innocent people (including those from Bijbehara and Srinagar) were gunned down by brutal forces and hundreds others injured.
We salute the sacrifices of those martyrs and reiterate the pledge of taking their mission towards the goal of freedom, he said.
