Teacher arrested for corporal punishment

Kulgam:  Police Monday arrested a teacher for holding out corporal punishment to a fifth class student at a private school in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. 

The arrested teacher has been identified as Shanawaz Lone of Islamia School at Parigam Kulgam.

“The teacher wounded grievously an 11-year-old boy Aadil Ahmed Dar, a fifth grader resident of Baiebrada Yaripora Kulgam by hitting his eye with a stick,” a police official said.

The student after being rushed to a local hospital has been shifted to the SMHS Hospital Srinagar under MRD number 43727 in ward 8.

Father of the student, Muhammad Ibrahim Dar, has filed a case against the erring teacher and accordingly he has been arrested. 

“We have filed a case against the teacher vide FIR number 94/2015 under 338 RPC and have arrested him,” a police official said
