SRINAGAR: A week-long national-level workshop on Mathematics and Its Applications began at the University of Kashmir on Monday.
KU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, inaugurated the workshop organised by the Universitys Department of Mathematics in collaboration with the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
In his welcome address, Dr M A Khanday, Organizing Secretary of the workshop, highlighted the importance of mathematics and the role of teachers in making the subject interesting. He referred to application of mathematical tools in solving problems in subjects of natural sciences, engineering, medicine, finance and social sciences.
