Police invoke 354 RPC, erring official not arrested
POONCH: Police formally booked a school teacher Thursday accused of sexually harassing a girl student while the Education Department responded by placing the erring official under suspension with immediate effect.
A 9th grader of Government Higher Secondary School, Sheesh Mahal, in Poonch had complained to the school principal that a teacher namely Daljeet Singh was sexually harassing her.
Following the complaint, the school principal wrote to higher authorities and a case was formally registered against the accused in police station Poonch under FIR number 133 under section 354 RPC. The accused has, however, not been arrested yet.
Meanwhile, the Education Department has initiated a departmental enquiry into the incident.
