PULWAMA: Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in south Kashmirs Pulwama Town on Thursday against the detention of youths.
Hundreds including the kin of the detained youth assembled at Murran Chowk this afternoon and held protests against the police detentions.
The police had detained nearly 15 youths over the charges of stone-pelting in recent days.

However, the families of detained youths rejected the police version and said that their dear ones have nothing to with the stone-pelting incidents.
The protesters blocked the main road and shouted slogans against the government. They demanded immediate release of the youth.
The protest turned violent after the agitating youth pelted stones on police party to which the police responded by intense teargas shelling.
Meanwhile, government forces cordoned off Kareemabad village of the district following inputs about the presence of militants. The searches in the village were on when reports last came in.
