SRINAGAR: Army on Wednesday celebrated golden jubilee of the 1965 Indo-Pak war describing it a befitting tribute to the valour of Indian soldiers who thwarted invasion by a belligerent neighbour.
The war, an army press statement read, was not scripted the way it unfolded. Pakistan wrote just the first chapter the statement said. What followed was a reactionary sequel. The war started consequent to Pakistan’s launching Operation Gibraltar, which was designed to infiltrate forces into Jammu and Kashmir to precipitate an insurgency against the popularly elected Government.
