SRINAGAR: Dean/Principal, Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rafiq Ahmad Pampori inaugurated the ‘Multi-Disciplinary Research Unit (MRU), a state of art research facility at the GMC Srinagar campus here today.
The facility is being developed on modern lines to promote and coordinate Basic, Applied and Clinical Research. The research facility houses comprehensive laboratories for Genomic, Proteomic, Culture (Cell/Tissue) work with latest equipments of Cytometry, Bio-Safety Level-Il, Fluorescent Microscopy, Real-Time PCR, Ultra Deep Freezers, Laminar Flows etc., to handle broad fields of Biomedical research. Research being a critical yardstick in evaluating Medical Institution world over, this research centre puts GMC Srinagar at the forefront.
The centre will go a long way in providing research platform to the Clinicians and Research Scholars affiliated to GMC Srinagar and bringing GMC, Srinagar on the map of reputed Biomedical research network and will also help to devise strategies and interventions for patients suffering from various ailments and disorders.
