SRINAGAR: An encounter started Saturday evening between militants and government forces in Krumhura area of Handwara in north Kashmir. At least one person was killed and a soldier wounded in the fire fight.
Acting upon specific information about the presence of militants the joint party of armys 21 RR, 6 RR and SOG cordoned off the whole Krumhura area in Zatchaldara, a senior police official said.
As the searches began militants opened fire resulting in a heavy fire exchange of firing between forces and militants.
When reports came in last late Saturday evening, intense exchange of fire was on. (GNS)
