Police Wants to Revive Ikhwan Raj: MLA

Sumbal: Former Speaker and incumbent legislator Muhammad Akbar Lone Saturday alleged that People’s Democratic Party has appointed a police officer to harass common people in his area.

“He is an Ikhwani and wants to revive Ikhwan Raj in Sumbal Sonawari area,” the MLA said adding that SDPO Rashid Akbar has let loose a reign of terror in the area and every now and then people from the locality throng to his house narrating the tales of oppression of the SDPO Sumbal.

“SDPO Sumbal has been appointed by PDP to harass common people especially those who are National Conference workers. He tortures innocent people and in the garb of militancy, the said SDPO is giving third degree torture to them,” he said and added that if SDPO Sumbal is not transferred from the area, the people will took to streets and will start an agitation against the government.

When contacted SDPO Sumbal, Rashid Akbar told CNS that people are the best judge and, ‘they can tell you what I am.’ “Why should I harass anybody? I don’t understand what I have done,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Muslim League General Secretary Abdul Ahad Parra said that the SDPO Sumbal has been harassing and torturing the Muslim League workers. “The SDPO Sumbal has been arresting the father instead of son. Which law permits him to do so? One Khurshid Ahmed Lone has been languishing in his custody from past 20 days and he has not bothered to book him under any relevant section,” he said. (CNS)
