SRINAGAR: Demanding removal of Director of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), the non-gazetted employees, Soura, on Tuesday held an hour long protest in the hospital premises. The employees warned government of intensified protests if the Director is not removed.
The employees led by Non-Gazetted Employees Association president, Abdul Rehman, assembled inside the premises of SKIMS Soura and appealed government to remove Showkat Zargar as its Director.
The employees accused the Director of embezzling funds and ruining hospital administration. Earlier, free food was being provided to the patients admitted here, he said. The facilities of medical tests were also provided free of cost but that has now become history.
We had a blood lab here but that has been made defunct and patients are being compelled to buy blood-culture-wire from outside, he said.
There is a deep nexus between the Director and private lab owners, the employees alleged.
