State Badminton Championship kicks off at Indoor Stadium

SRINAGAR: District Youth Services & Sports Office, Srinagar, under the patronage of DG Youth Services & Sports, Jehangir Mir, kicked off the State Level Inter-Disrict Badminton Championship, 2015, for boys & girls of age groups U14-U17-U19 respectively at Sheri Kashmir Indoor Stadium Srinagar.

The championship was inaugurated by Sports Officer, Srinagar, Balbir Singh. 

Assistant Director, activities, Kashmir Division, Manjeet Singh & other dignitaries of the department were also present. 

For girls, the 3-day championship began on Tuesday and for boys, it will begin from August 21.

The participant teams have been accommodated at Youth Hostel Srinagar.

Special technical staff has been called from different districts of the state for the smooth conduct of the championship. New SGFI rules have been implemented in the championship. 

At the Indoor Stadium, three courts have been drawn for three age groups 14-17-19 respectively. In -14 girls singles category, two matches were played between Udhampur and Pulwama  in which Udhampur  won the singles  set by 21-12,21-24

In doubles set, Udhampur registered yet another win by 18-06,18-10 respectively. 

In U-17 category matches between Budgam an Kathwa, the latter won by 15-04,15-05.

In doubles, Budgam won by 15-12,15-17 respectively. 

In U-19 category, two matches were played between Baramulla and Ganderbal in which both singles and doubles set were won by Baramulla by 21-09,21-06 &21-08,21-09.
