SRINAGAR: Director Handicrafts, Gazanfar Ali today said that the Handicrafts department is going to start an exhibition at the Kashmir Haat from 26 July, 2015. He said that the space at Kashmir Haat being located at the prime place should be utilized more often in an effective manner so that a number of artisans can be accommodated to sell their goods on a rotational basis.
He also constituted a team of Officers headed by the Joint Director Handicrafts Kashmir entrusting them to hold many exhibitions in and outside the State during this calendar year so as to provide ample marketing opportunities to the grass root level artisans.
While taking stock of the activities of the Handicrafts Department, he was apprised that the department has already invited applications from the registered artisans of the Jammu & Kashmir State for their participation at the Handicrafts Exhibition to be conducted at Baba Kharak Singh Marg in the month of November 2015.
The Director Handicrafts stressed that main objective of organising Handicrafts Exhibition outside the state particularly at Delhi is to give artisans an opportunity to showcase and sell their traditional Art and Craft works directly to the customers and get their feedback. He said that national level exhibitions provide artisans a platform for direct interface with art and craft lovers, share their talent with the urban elite and know the customers taste and preferences.
