Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir led by Dr GM Mir Tuesday said that it has unanimously decided to observe Doctors Day falling on July 1 Wednesday as Black Day.
We are bruised and wounded by the callous attitude of the government towards our medical fraternity since ages. In this context a peaceful sit in protest will be held Wednesday afternoon at press enclave, Srinagar.
DAK spokesperson said that there is nothing to celebrate for doctors who are treated as bonded labourers. Hospitals lack all kinds of facilities. There is acute shortage of staff. Government is relying on hollow slogans while on ground, health sector is in shambles, he said.
DAK has been demanding for a Comprehensive Health Policy for the State as the current policy is outdated and flawed wherein doctor is uncomfortable and poor patient is suffering. Keeping this fact in view, we have decided to observe July 1 Doctors Day as Black Day, the spokesperson said.
