Calls for immediate steps for its restoration
SRINAGAR, JUNE 26: Minister of State for Education, Information & Culture, Ms. Priya Sethi, accompanied MLC Surinder Ambardar, today visited one of Kashmirs premiere educational institutions DAV Institute at Jawahar Nagar and reviewed the post flood situation that rendered the institution dysfunctional.
The Minister inspected the entire complex and took stock of the damages caused to the infrastructure due to September 2014 floods. The Minister was apprised that prior to militancy, the institution was functioning as a College with an approximate enrolment of 6000 students. The enrolment gradually decreased with the passing years due to militancy and lack of attention by the management. The institution converted to Higher Secondary/High School till September floods and could not be restored due to certain reasons.
