SRINAGAR: Terming the persecution of Jammu Muslims who are being forcefully evicted from their lands and homes as a well planned strategy of the BJP-RSS combine, which brings back the painful memories of the massacre of Muslims in 1947, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq stated that if it does not stop, the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir would not sit as mute spectators and will be forced to start an agitation against these malicious designs.
Addressing a Friday gathering at historic Jamia Masjid, Hurriyat (M) Chairman termed the sacrifices of the valiant Jammu Muslims as unforgettable in the history of the state. He said Kashmiris not only have political social and religious affinity with Jammu Muslims, but being the inalienable part of the fabric of Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri Muslims would never leave their Jammu Muslim breathen alone and would firmly stand with them in these difficult times.
Mirwaiz said that while Muslims of the state have always stayed away from communal bias and have an enviable history of tolerance and communal amity but the present dispensation both in New Delhi and in the state are firmly following a policy of persecution based on religion with the aim to polarise the regions ,appease their vote bank and secure their hold to power.
He said that for a long time bringing about a demographic change in the state is on the agenda of the RSS and this move seems to be a ploy in that direction. He said that while on one hand Jammu muslims were being driven out of their homes on the other hand plans to settle West Pakistan refugees are being hatched.
Giving details Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that residential houses have been built on hundreds of kanals of state forest land in Trikuta Nagar, Bathindi, Greater Kailash etc which were sold at throw away prices under the Roshni act, to influential people and in the process illegal sales were made legal. He added that the canal which runs from from Akhnoor to Jammu has been encroached upon and illegally occupied by a specific community and no one is asking them to evict.
Mirwaiz said that apprising him of these details a delegation of Jammu Muslims had come to meet him .The delegation alleged that government was transferring many Muslim officers from Jammu, Kistwar, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, and Badherwah and replacing them with communally inclined officers who were threatening the Muslim residents to leave their houses and lands.
He said that if the state government has any qualms of conscience then it should immediately put a stop to this design. He said that this situation demands a collective strategy from the Kashmiri resistance leadership to help mitigate the grave injustice being faced by our Jammu brethren.
