Srinagar: Kashmir University has introduced the biometric smart card attendance system to ensure punctuality of teaching and non-teaching staff in the varsity. The order in this regard was issued by administration department on the directions of Vice Chancellor after the students and scholars in the varsity complained that majority of the teaching staff either leave the varsity before due time or remain absent from the duties.
The system records the actual time when an employee enters or leaves the varsity.
Sources told CNS that despite the vehement opposition from the teaching staff, the Vice Chancellor showed green signal and at initial stage the system has been introduced in some sections of administration department itself. After the administration department, the biometric attendance system will be extended to all the departments in the University in coming few days, an official told CNS.
