Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) in a meeting Monday asked Mufti led PDP-BJP coalition government to spare Kashmir schools from dirty politics.
The president of the Association, Anwar Hussain Wani said politicizing schools will have an adverse impact on teaching process.
The statement came in the backdrop of the governments proposal to hand over the job of issuing state subject certificates to schools across the state.
The Forum unanimously rejected the idea as it will erode the apolitical environment of the school system and at the same time divert time and resources.
Currently, state subject certificates are being issue by the Revenue department and recently government has proposed to hand over to schools of the state, the proposal was widely criticized by various political and social organizations and many see it as move to dilute the Muslim majority character of the state as they believe non-state subjects would easily get these certificates under the new proposed scheme.
The newly announced contractual recruitment policy at district headquarters was also criticized. It will have a negative impact on educated youth of the state and demoralize the meritorious students, the teachers said.
They said that government is proclaiming such policies which are only aimed at exploiting the educated youth of the state.
The Forum also expressed its solidarity with the SAA/RAMSA teachers whose salary has been withheld for last eight months. The Forum asked the government to release their salary so that the school system of the state would be saves from the unwanted strikes.
