Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman and head of Awami Action Committee (AAC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday convened an extraordinary meeting of AACs central committees members.
In a statement the meeting discussed ongoing political situation besides taking stock of organizational matters. During the meeting, the participants paid glorious tributes to Mirwaiz Ghulam Rasool Shah, founder of oldest education institution of Kashmir Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul-Islam, on his 106th death anniversary for his religious, educational and social contributions in Kashmir, he said.
Terming Shah as Sir Syed of Kashmir, the participants said he lit the candle of education during those dark times when Kashmiris were subjected to educational and political exploitation. They said it was due to his vision and efforts which later paved the way to end the political and economical exploitation of Kashmiris at different levels.
Meanwhile Anjuman I-Nusratul-Islam will organize different programmes to pay tributes to Sir Syed of Kashmir, Mirwaiz Ghulam Rasool Shah. Anjuman is organizing Quranic recitation session at different schools to pay tributes to the former Mirwaiz. Besides, Mirwaiz would pay tributes to the educational social religious and political contributions of Mirwaiz Rasool Shah at the historic Jamia Masjid tomorrow.
