Srinagar: Hundreds of government teachers on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration in City Centre here demanding their pending salaries and threatened agitation if government doesnt release their salaries.
Hundreds of teachers led by Teachers Forum president Abdul Qayoom Wani assembled outside Directorate of Education office here and started march towards Press Enclave Lal Chowk amid anti-government slogans.
The protesters marched through busy Lal Chowk roads and reached Press Enclave where Wani addressed the agitators.
Demanding pending salaries of SSA and RMSA teachers, Wani said for the last eight months these teachers are without salaries. He warmed of State-wide agitation if the salaries of teachers are not released by government. Wani called on teachers to observe pen down strike on May 11 and 12 and complete strike on May 13.
