Ready to Foil Militant Attacks: GOC
SRINAGAR: GOC Chinar Corps Lt Gen Subrata Saha Wednesday said army has learnt a lesson from the twin militant attacks in Kathua and Samba and it is ready and alert to foil any militant attack in future.
Talking to reporters soon after the culmination of an event in North Kashmirs Bandipore Sports Stadium, Lt Gen Saha said that the vigilant Army will never allow militants to strike openly in Kashmir. We are ready to foil their attacks. We have taken a serious note of twin attacks in Kathua and Samba and in fact, Army learnt some lessons from such attacks, he said.
He said that Army is trying its best to maintain peace and there has been a total transformation of the situation in Kashmir. Our priority is to keep the situation in Kashmir peaceful and normal. We want that the people should keep their day to day life peaceful and fearless. The work done by Army for the people during floods have brought people closer to us and the cooperation and coordination between people and Army will surely help us to establish peace and normalcy in Kashmir, he said.
Responding to a question, Saha according to CNS said Army fears intense infiltration attempts by militants from traditional routes along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.
Since snow has started to melt on the LoC, there is apprehension that militants may launch massive infiltration attempts into our territory, he said.
He said army has already intensified vigil along the LoC, where there is less snow, to foil any infiltration bid by the militants. He said that all but 200 militants are still present in Valley.
Army unit from 14 Rashtriya Rifles had organized an event, Bandipore Got Talent in which the talented youth of the district displayed their musical and other skills and during the event many youth were awarded for their best talent.
BSF foils infiltration bids
Jammu: Days after militant attacks in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu division, Border Security Forces Wednesday claimed that suspected militants tried to infiltrate into Indian side from the same districts, however, their attempts were foiled due to the alertness of the security personnel.
BSF official said that its men observed suspicious movement of some persons in the wee hours of Wednesday near two of its border outposts on the international border in Samba and Kathua districts.
Our alert and vigilant troops fired at the suspicious persons forcing them to retreat back”, he said.
