Would support dialogue process to solve K-dispute
SRINAGAR: Terming the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan as a right step in the right direction, the Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday expressed hope that the foreign secretary level talks will lead to a comprehensive and result oriented dialogue that would herald into the beginning of new era for the region.
Moderate faction Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had convened a joint meeting of conglomerates executive council, general council and working committee members here and the meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of all the Hurriyat (M) constituents.
During the meeting participants held detailed deliberations on various aspects of the organizational and ongoing political matters, including the rapidly changing political situation between India and Pakistan, a Hurriyat spokesman said.
Terming the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan as a right step in the right direction, the participants hoped that following the foreign secretary level talks between the two neighbors, there exists every likelihood that a comprehensive and result oriented dialogue would be initiated between two countries which would announce the beginning of new era aimed at solving the Kashmir dispute and other issues existing between the neighbors.
The participants stated that Hurriyat (M) has always desired for friendly relations between India and Pakistan, adding, We have always preferred serious dialogue as a means to solve the issues existing between the two nations.
The participants stated that Kashmir issue was the main cause of confrontation between the two nations, adding, the Kashmir dispute is linked to the political aspirations of Kashmiris and as such any dialogue aimed at resolving this complex dispute cannot afford to ignore the participation of genuine Kashmiri leadership in such an exercise.
The participants once again reiterated that Hurriyat (M) would stand by its constitution that Kashmir issue can be resolved through a result oriented and sustained dialogue process between the three stakeholders including Kashmiris, India and Pakistan. They further stated that Hurriyat (M) would support any effort or dialogue process which aims to solve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with aspirations and emotions of Kashmiris.
While deliberating upon the organizational matters, the participants stated that in current political sphere, Hurriyat should be strengthened on the grass root level to increase its political penetration.
The meeting also decided that Mirwaiz will lead a high level delegation to New Delhi to visit Pakistan High Commission on the invitation of Pakistan envoy in India on the eve of Pakistan Day on March 23. The meeting decided that Hurriyat delegation would hold detailed deliberations with Pakistan over the resumption of dialogue with India and various other political issues connected with the Kashmir dispute.
The heads and representatives of Hurriyat (M) constituents who participated in the meeting include, Abdul Gani Bhat, Moulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari, Bilal Gani Lone, Musadiq Adil, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Abdul Majeed Banday, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Syed Salim Geelani, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War besides others.
