Family demands action against guilty

Srinagar: The family members of Kupwara labour who allegedly died in police custody last month Monday staged a protest in Press Enclave Srinagar alleging that police is trying to save the officers allegedly involved in the death of Nazir Ahmed Mogul.

Nazir Ahmad Mughal of Zirhama Kupwara according to protestors was brutally interrogated and killed by Kupwara police. The protesters carrying banners and placards seeking justice and demanded a partial inquiry should be conducted into the murder case.

We want inquiry into the murder by any independent agency. We believe that those officer directly involved in the killing of my brother are being given free hand to tamper the evidences. We demand immediate arrest of the guilty policemen, Bashir Mogul, the brother of the deceased labour told CNS.

He said that his brother was given third degree in police station. I would have no regrets if my brother would be been shot at head but we feel pain that his body had been burnt during interrogation as a resut he lost his life, Bashir said while displaying the photographs of his brothers wounded body.

Pertinently, Nazir Mogul 32 was arrested in connection with the murder Case under FIR No 76/2014 U/S 364/302 RPC of P/S Trehgam. Police had said the accused had been called by police post Zirhama for questioning where he complained abdomen pain and was immediately taken to hospital where he died. His mysterious death had sparked spontaneous shutdown and protests in the district.
