Bandipora, March 7, CNS: Army Saturday awarded two youth with cash and kind for their role during rescue operation after the crash of Dhruv chopper in Safapora area of North Kashmirs Bandipora district on February 11 last month.
Two pilots Lieutenant-Colonel Rajesh Gulati and his co-pilot Major Tahir Hussain Khan had died during the crash.
Commanding Officer 13 RR Mansbal, Sanjay Sharma while lauding the role of the locals at a function in Mansbal headquarters said that two local youth not only made every effort to douse the fire but also placed the dead bodies at appropriate location. We salute such brave and bold local men and extend our gratitude to them, he said and awarded cash prize sealed in an envelope along with gifts to the two local youth whom Army identified as Javid Ahmed Bhat son of Muhammad Akram and Abdul Majid Bhat son of Ghulam Hasan both residents of Takia Safapora, Sumbal.
Meanwhile, ex-servicemen rally for district Bandipora and Ganderbal was organized by 13 Rashtriya Rifles (KUMAON) at Manasbal Garrison.
Speaking on the occasion, Commanding Officer 13 Rashtiya Rifles urged all ex-servicemen to make all out efforts and assist the Army and civil administration in resolving the problems of the area. The Commander reiterated that all efforts will be made to look after the welfare needs of the ex-servicemen and the civilians within the framework of the organization. (CNS)
