Srinagar: While terming the statement of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayed as ridiculous and unrealistic in which he credited Hurriyat, Pakistan and militants for the success of the recently held assembly election in the state Hurriyat Conference (G) Monday expressed surprise and shock over this.
In a statement Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said, As far as Hurriyat Conference is concerned, its entire leadership and its hundreds of activists and associates were arrested some 45 days before the election drama and they were either jailed or placed under house arrest and they were denied any chance to reach out to the people and present their stand. So commenting on any role of theirs in the election drama is unrealistic and unfair and it is merely a political gimmick.
Statement of Mufti sahib is same like a person is held hostage, his hands and his feet are tied and his mouth is also blocked and then he is thanked for his co-operation and silence. By such a statement, Mufti sahib had actually tried to create confusion and misunderstanding about the pro-freedom people that they have got their support behind the curtain, he sad.
The spokesman said that the other quarters can themselves explain their position but as far as the Hurriyat Conference is concerned, it has unambiguous and clear stand regarding the election dramas.
Hurriyat Conference doesnt value this process more than a military operation which is held in the presence of 7.5 lakh foreign forces and we claim that if our leadership and activists would have allowed to reach to the people with their stand and they would not have been arrested, the majority of the people would have boycotted the said election drama, Akbar said.
He said that Hurriyat (G) is not against any democratic process and it challenge that if free and fair plebiscite is held in Jammu & Kashmir under the supervision of world community to know the wishes and aspirations of the people, the pro-Indians will
hardly find their address in the state and there is no question of their winning of elections.
While terming the statement of Mufti as a huge and Himalayan lie in which he had said that the Kashmiris rejected the two nation theory of Jinnah and acceded with India, Hurriyat (G) spokesman said, India, only with the help of its military might had occupied the state of Jammu & Kashmir and as far as the accession is concerned then it is the same agreement like the agreement of Amritsar of 1846 when the British sold the entire population of Jammu & Kashmir to Mr. Gulab Singh without knowing the wishes of its people.
In 1947 too, only an individual expressed his wish to accede the state with India and he too did not bothered about the consent of the people of the state. The people of the state are continuing their struggle for their right to self determination so that they can announce their decision about their future, he added.
While commenting over the advice of the Mufti sahib that the pro-freedom people should follow the path of the Sajjad Gani Lone, the spokesman said, Hurriyat Conference is representing the sacrifices, sacred blood and aspirations of the people and they are not for power. Hurriyat is struggling for the resolution of the Jammu
& Kashmir in and according to the wishes and aspirations of its people and they have nothing to do with the government formation while as they are fighting for the better and dignified future of the nation.
Sajjad sahib is the son of a pro-freedom leader late Abdul Gani Lone but he was never a part of freedom struggle. He was always carrying a different ideology so there is no question for the pro-freedom people to follow his path, he asserted.
