SRINAGAR: Winter vacations has been extended till March 07 (Saturday) in the Kashmir Valley, Director School Education, Showkat Ahmad Beigh said today.
He said the schools will now re-open on Monday next (March 09).
Various civil society groups have been pressing authorties to extend the vacation following outbreak of Swine Flu in the state.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Friday urged authorities to extend winter vacation in schools in view of ongoing H1N1 outbreak saying, the flu activity is increasing and the number of positive cases in Valley is an underestimate of disease burden as minuscule percentage of population is tested. School closure is recommended non pharmaceutical intervention to contain and mitigate the spread of virus during an outbreak.
