SRINAGAR: Kashmir Bar Association Monday reiterated the demand for investigation of the Kunan Poshpora mass rape case by an independent agency.
A KAB statement said that in an extra ordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association held on Monday, it was It was stated in the meeting that guilty must be punished and justice deserves to be done with the victim families.
Kashmiri women have set an example in the fight for freedom and had proven that occupation of India will not live longer. Rape has been intentionally recognized as a war crime and a form of torture and from last 25 years in Jammu and Kashmir, rape has been routinely used as a weapon of war, the KAB statement read.
The members of the Executive committee termed the incident of Kunan Poshpora as a blackspot in the recent history of Kashmir and a black scar on the so-called democracy of India. Despite passage of 20 years, the accused are roaming free and have not been brought to justice it seems the accused have been given impunity, deliberately since none of them have been produced before the investigating officer for identification, it said.
